Open consultations
This page provides guidance on where to find open consultations. Always check the primary sources below for the latest consultation opportunities — Medsafe and the Ministry of Health publish calls for submissions directly on their websites.
Where to find consultations
Medsafe
Medsafe publishes consultations on the Medsafe website. Consultations may relate to:
- Proposed changes to guidance documents
- New guidance on device categories (e.g., SaMD, combination products)
- Labelling and advertising rule changes
- WAND Regulations amendments
Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health publishes consultations related to the Medical Products Bill and broader regulatory reform at: health.govt.nz — Medicines legislation
Regulations.govt.nz
New Zealand's central consultation portal at regulations.govt.nz lists all open regulatory consultations across government, including any Medsafe-related proposals.
How to submit
Most Medsafe consultations accept written submissions by email to devices@health.govt.nz or medsafe@medsafe.govt.nz. The Medical Products Bill consultation will be managed by the Ministry of Health separately.
Industry engagement
The Medical Technology Association of New Zealand (and the broader MTAA which covers NZ members) engages with Medsafe and the Ministry of Health on behalf of the medical technology industry. Consider engaging through industry association channels in addition to direct submissions.
